biodiversity
Biodiversity is the variety of life in a particular ecosystem. Biodiversity is valuable for ecosystems because it allows the ecosystem to bounce back. If small environmental changes kill off a certain type of organisms, biodiversity will allow other organisms to take its place. It especially helps in regulating the atmosphere, water cycle, nutrients, mass pollination, and genetic variants in crops.
Human interaction
Humans have impacted the desert in negative ways and positive ways. Some negative ways that we are impacting the desert are climate change, overuse of underground water, and soil poisoning. Climate change has caused more deserts to become even more arid, and climate change has also resulted in desertification. The overuse of underground water has caused some animals and especially plants to loose their main source of water. We have also put too much salt in the soil, which is causing it to be poisoned. Although we are negatively impacting the desert, we are also positively impacting the environment. Some positive ways humans are impacting the environment are researches to control climate change and researches to see what would happen if they settled an area. These researches will limit the amount of destruction caused by humans.
How Are we helping?
Humans are having a positive impact on the desert environment. One way we are helping is by trying to control climate change. Trying to control climate change is preventing some detrimental factors like desertification. We are also trying to help by doing researches to prevent damaging the environment. Researchers are studying the land to see if we could live in areas without causing harm.
